Islam originated in Arabia in the early 7th century.
Regard Muhammad as the restorer of the original monotheistic faith and not as a founder of Islam, and the second-largest religion in the world.
Islam belief is that there is one God, and the Arabic term for God is Allah.
They believe the Qur’an and the Sunnah (words and deeds of Muhammad) as the fundamental sources of Islam faith. It is divided into 114 suras or chapters and is
more concerned with moral guidance than legal instructions, and is considered the “sourcebook of Islamic principles and values”.
Muslims are required to observe the Five Pillars of Islam namely:
1. The Shahadah (basic creed or tenet of Islam, testifying to worship only God and Muhammad is the Messenger of God).
2. Salah (ritual prayer, performed five times a day)
3. Zakat (alms-giving)
4. Sawm (fasting during the month of Ramadan)
5. Hajj (pilgrimage during the Islamic month in the city of Mecca) |
